Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) - Discovery Practice Exam

The focus during the exploration phase of Discovery, often referred to colloquially as "Disco," is primarily on data collection. This stage is critical because it involves gathering information from various data sources to understand the existing infrastructure, applications, and services within an organization's environment. Effective data collection is essential for establishing a comprehensive view that can inform later phases of the Discovery process, including analysis and implementation.

In this phase, the goal is to identify what assets exist, how they are linked, and their performance levels. This thorough inventory allows for a more precise configuration review in subsequent phases, as well as facilitates effective service mapping by providing the foundational data necessary to visualize relationships and dependencies.

While configuration review, application performance, and service mapping are important aspects of the overall Discovery process, they typically follow the initial data collection efforts. Each of these components relies on the information gathered during the exploration phase to function optimally and deliver accurate insights regarding the IT environment.
